January 2025

Cheers to the new year! As we welcome 2025, it's a time for reflection and new beginnings. Many people set resolutions to improve their lives, from personal goals to professional aspirations. Whether it's fostering relationships, focusing on wellness, or pursuing new knowledge, every small step counts. We have selected some beautiful wines from France to start 2025 off right! Wishing everyone a bright fresh start to the new year!.

Les Athletes du Vin, Vin de France 'Chenin Blanc'

Chenin Blanc is a versatile white grape variety originating from the Loire Valley in France. Known for its high acidity and ability to reflect terroir, this wine is dry and crisp, with medium body, with notes of citrus, green apples, minerals, beeswax, and elegant floral notes. This wine pairs perfectly with a variety of dishes, including seafood, poultry, and Asian cuisine. Our personal favorite pairing with this wine is Thai food!

LES CHAIS DU PORT DE LA LUNE - SONOTONE

The city of Bordeaux, full of neoclassical grandiosity and 3 star restaurants, is one of the most conservative, traditional places in France. Les Chais du Port de la Lune is the radical alternative. Situated behind an unassuming blue door on a small street coming off the coastal road, La Chais du Port de la Lune, a negoce project by Laurent Bordes, is housed in a converted WW2 bunker. In this wild network of seemingly endless tunnels, Laurent makes gorgeous wines from organic and biodynamic grapes from Bordeaux and its surroundings. “Port de la Lune” is a nod to Bordeaux’s nickname, translating to “Port of the Moon” - and also encapsulates the wine’s ability to transport us. This typical bourdeaux blend of syrah, cab franc, carignan and negrette, pairs wonderfully with grilled red meats, cheeses, and richer grilled vegetables such as eggplant or mushrooms.
